I think if that was the case, ALL the streets designed by that guy would create some elaborate geometric figure.

I agree. I have been to france, and seen it from the air - If that were the case, then it wouldn't have been a pentagram laid out in public parks - point, I should look up those parks, see when they became parks, rather than anything else - but he wouldn't have stopped there, it would have been on a much grander scale.

the place he designed is a relatively tiny little area and all the streets are pretty.... french, maybe. clearly not designed for efficiency. Anyway, those points have been there all along :P

Anyway, I don't really agree. It makes sense to give extra thought to areas of extra importance. Like say, the White House.

Well, thanks for saving me the time.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that it was intentional. It was a government endeavour, after all, and how often do you see governments doing something that makes sense, just for a start :P

Anyway - To me, it just looks like regular old modernish city design - Lay it out on a grid, and then provide major throughfares that cross large parts of the city as best you can according to the lay of the land. On top of that, looking at the more detailed maps on google earth, it seems that a LOT of roads lead directly to the white house area or grounds, or very close to, as one of the focal points of the city. Same with the capitol building. Also, from the maps you've provided, the area below the white house seems to not be an area intended for residential or business, it seems to be a lot of green-belt land, thus making sense that the area upward of the white house would be more of a focal point for through fares, and one of the first things there once you get off the park area is the white house - and certainly, the only one that makes sense to have a focal point near.
Occam's razor - More likely it was simply smart design of throughfares and streets(a useful, practical, and sensible purpose), rather than any particular picture intending to be drawn(an impractical purpose, and there is not many shapes you can make while not deviating enough from the design to make a difference to the way it works.).

I have also been to France and if you follow the history of the architechture you'll find that the French really did think on that scale for their Aesthetics.  They still do.

The La Grande Arche which is part of the Axe historique is a good example.  You look down through the Arc De Triomphe from the Place de la Concorde and you can see the La Grande Arche through it perfectly and appearing to be in scale with it from the human eye perspective.

That was planned.  They ment to do that when they built the La Grande Arche and the area around the Place de la Concorde (translated: Harmony Square)  is well known as a place central and in align with many of the greatest monuments, symbols and places, including Place de la Madeleine and Palais Bourbon with great effort put into achieving beautiful perspective of views whichever direction you look.

At this point, I think you might be ignoring or denying the evidence to continue applying Occam's razor because we're needing to make more assumptions that the city designer/s (people who see and create patterns on a large scale) somehow just happened to draw this up unintentionally and didn't notice the convergence and alignment of parks, streets and monuments created patterns and the like.  Again, I don't think there was any occult plans behind it but I do believe it was intentional drawn up by these people to align these parks and monuments in a sort of pattern and with a level of relation to one another making the whitehouse a point of convergence for emphasis on it's position.

Yeah, like that time in Fullmetal Alchemist when they turn a whole city into a transmutation circle or whatever.

True, but who uses anything besides eBay? and i dont consider Craig's List an auction site since you can sell your virginity and nobody seems to stop you 0.o

Well, i personally would not expect nanaimo bars to be in a candy shop... they seem more like a bakery item to me.
