I was telling folks on this one forum that words about sexual preference should not be used when they obscure the complicated truth. I think it's really easy to pigeon hole people into huge, vague, bludgeoning catagories when real life doesn't correspond to such black and white simplicity.
But...but I can't handle that kind of complexity!
But yeah. Like the whole gay/straight dichotomy that doesn't have room for bisexual, or pansexual, or whatever they "identify" as.
And yeah, the whole "identity" thing adds to the confusion, cuz you could be a chick attracted to guys but still identify as "lesbian" because you exclusively have relationships with women.
That's why I don't identify as anything when it comes to sexual/gender identity other than just 'me'.
