There's nothing wierd, it's just that the tendrils (i don't know if that's the correct term) spell "OCTOPUS".

No, because squid have ten appendages, two tentacles, and eight arms, while octopuses have four sets of two arm pairs, and usually no tentacles. When you're talking about the Class Cephalopoda, arms are of equal length, and usually have suckers on the entire length, while tentacles are elongated, and only have suckers at the tip.

Well, in terms of network operations, I wouldn't imagine it would be too different in pure function, but volume is going to get interesting - To the best of my knowledge, most of what they're doing is replacing the copper infrastructure we have at the moment with a GPON, and upgrading the local hardware to match. Essentially, converting our copper network over to Fibre to the Premises. So, in theory, the biggest change will be that you will have 96% percent of internet users in Australia able to pull down something in the region of 100 Megabits per second average, but increasing until it's at roughly a gigabit per second average in eleven years time.

Though, dare I say you'll have time to prepare, with the speed it's being rolled out at. And as a bonus, it might convince someone to do something with all the dark fibre laying around in the US.

Edit - I'm sure there are a hundred reasons why I'm entirely wrong - as is the norm with this sort of thing - but frankly, I've had a pretty fucking evil day, and I do not give the slightest utterance of the concept of giving a fuck.

Double edit - Not telling the story is a little unfair, if I'm going to be all angry like, so here's the outline - spent the day investigating legal options on a client who after I acted as a go-between on a sale of a small antiquity, basically said "Well, we have it now, thanks, fuck off" and are not paying me my commission. But with the lack of paperwork on the rush job, and the fact that the small amount of paperwork they were given they have apparently destroyed or denied the existence of - which I don't have copies of - I have no ability to legally prove they just ripped me off to the tune of three grand. So, legal options, pretty much entirely zero, and likelihood of managing to win if I did try and use the few options that remain, absolute zero. All I can do is spread it to my network of contacts that they ripped me and therefore blackball them, but it won't do much. I'm super, super pissed off right now.

Sorry I've been away people, but there's an addition in my life which is eating up a lot of time... Yep... Super Smash Bros Brawl.

But beyond going through the usual parenting things, the only new event is that I picked up a stray dog that was wondering the streets the other day.  Some Staffy cross Cattle dog I think.  Couldn't hold him for the pound as he's a little hyperactive and we don't want that with out little girl around, but if the pound come back to me that they couldn't find his owners or a home, I'll probably foster him until a family can be found.

Until then, I've put up a "found" notice in various local websites and am checking the "lost" notices on those websites daily.

Wow! Who knows how long I've been gone... I haven't checked in often and I see things are still happening. I haven't really kept up with the comic cuz my interest kinda faded and I'm not sure if it will recover. I'm still trying to figure out why I still exist, how video games have become my only interest when I have other interest yet I lack skill, persistence, patience, confidence, and optimism, why I have to wallow in ignorance for the rest of my life, knowing it will get me nowhere, therefore questioning my purpose and existence, why I feel like no one living on this planet was meant to live because things come at a price in order to breathe and live and survive on this God-forsaken Earth, and why I believe the word "happiness" is one big, fat euphemism to every living beings' ignorance. [Deep breath]
Too much to handle? Sorry. I'm just trying to figure things out...

Apart from all that jazz, I'm still breathing and playing video games (God knows how and why) and I'm hoping one day I'll catch up on the comic.
