My prediction: Glyph will feature prominently in this chapter.

This chapter will feature Glyph looking at over nine thousand boobies through clothes.

Of course. Eschelon is a big city! Must be tons of pretty girls on the street ready for ogling.

Do you suppose they sell magical see-through-proof underwear in this setting?

I think they'd have to, it's just a question of how expensive that enchantment would be.

Do you think Glyph might also get a kick from looking at their dbags? (can he see what's inside?) ;P

So, does Bern notice?
And does this device allow ogling without eyes?

Glyph is bisexual. May be some manservice as well.  :D

Great cover Brian.

hmmm, I don't this this chapter will significantly focus on Glyph more than the other characters.  I think Brion probably just decided it was a good time to make the chapter for the 5th book and I'd say Glyph's face is it, keeping in line with the other book covers that feature the main character's faces prominantly.

But I could be wrong.  Glyph is currently a very 2d character.  We're yet to look into his background or much of his deeper character, so maybe Brion will hit into that with this chapter.

I'm VERY interested to see the city which appears the be the centre of magick in Eschelon when we've only been in small towns or a city like Solstice which is anti-magick.  It'll be very cool to see what a major place with so much access to magick will do with it.  I'd easily imagine that a good many of the people there are probably level 1 sorcerers with the level 2 and 3 sorcerers being considered like university graduates compared to the common folk with their high-school level of education at level 1.

Can't really blame Suspira for "just wanting to go home." We STILL don't know what Melter did to her, if anything, and to top it all off, she lost someone very precious to her on this last mission. Could it be she's developing feelings for Crest?  :-*

Whoa, a narrator? My poor suspension of disbelief lies unconscious on the floor!

Oh well, at least we skipped past the dull bits. ^_^

Hmmm. Well drawn, but I prefer story to be move through dialog. More Crest+Suspira ship teasing, witch leaves me ambivalent. I'd would have rather had "As you know, a week has passed, Suspira just wants to go home, blah blah blah!" or at least a character (SUCH AS CREST OR MAYTAG  ::)) narrating if there has to be narrations.  but that might be a personal preferance.  http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main.AsYouKnow
I do really like the still life though, Brion. Great art!
When is Maytag going to get her jester outfit back. Needs more nymphomaniac jester girl. Also, a new arm please.

Bad form Brion.  :(

Maytag needs her jester outfit. She's what brightens this comic up. Without the jester outfit, this group of characters can get a little bit... dull.  :(

You needn't worry Ronin, after all that was the jester outfit's 2nd incarnation.  Remember the 1st got ripped to shreds.  (Also there was a 3rd one in the side story if you count that.)  Naturally, more jester outfits can always be made!

Yeah, I don't like narration either.  I prefer to tell the story through dialog.  But I am toying around with it because it allows exposition to be tossed out extremely fast in a somewhat natural way.  If I have to use narration, I personally prefer to keep it as impersonal as possible; I absolutely can't stand character narration, especially in comics, because it just seems like the cheesiest thing in the world.

Take note that the next few pages will be the polar opposite, with the story being mostly told visually.

You need to read it in the Winnie the Pooh Narrator voice. That's makes all exposition good.

What the heck could "The Thin Man" possibly gain from Maytag's D-bag? Aside from being all her property, everything in there is pretty much common fare. You don't suppose "The Thin Man" is into Voodoo now do you? <Imagines a Maytag Voodoo doll>

I suddenly have no clue what's going on in the comic.

I need to backtrack a bit...

Well I am sorry you feel that way. Character Narration is one of my favorite things. It can become a little bit of a guilty pleasure, admittedly, but I like the limitation of first person narration. I like the idea of knowing only what the character knows, because that's how life really is. It also provides a great set up for humour, with the narrative snarkiness or the Narrator setting up a joke and the pay-off made visually.
Yup! You can say we're polar opposites on opinions of that trope!  :-*

My preferred style of narration is 3rd person omniscient, with a sense of humor or sarcasm, much like you find in Discworld or A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The only thing about that series is although I kind of liked the first book, I gave up on it because during reading the 2nd book of the series, I read one too many sentences where the narrator tried to increase my vocabulary by telling me the definitions of words I already knew.

After that happened, I was like, "Yeah... I am waaay too old to be reading these books..."
And that was it for me and the Series of Unfortunate vents.  :(

I've only read the first book...ages ago in a young adult book discussion group.
Not my cup of tea, but I like the voicey narration style.

That cityscape is really cool. Great job Brion.  :D

And the "Outer City" comment reminds me of LA. Because of urban sprawl, you can drive and drive and drive and still be technically be in Los Angeles.  It's kind of sureal, it's supposed to be one big city but the vast majority of it is more just like a bunch of suburban areas squished together with no end in site.
Have you ever been to Los Angeles, Brion?  :D

I find that's the case with a lot of major city areas...sprawling across a huge area, with a concentrated downtown area. Though Los Angeles in particular is pretty spread out :P..... As far as cityscapes go...LA isn't nearly that tree/magic filled...unfortunately.

I can see why this page was up late. The city views are nice-
