Coming to Terms with my Disability
« on: December 23, 2009, 08:32:12 pm »
I've had this problem for many years, since I was born, in fact. It's a condition I have struggled with and tried to overcome my limitations, and it's far time I've come clean about it.

I'm telepathically challenged. I am completely unable to hear anyone's thoughts.

I've found ways of getting around this problem. Communicating with people verbally, or via writing, often helps, even hand signals and body language help me express myself. Despite this, my ability to effectively communicate with my manager at work is severely hampered. Like today when I found out she had changed the schedule (after it had been posted via other means) and notified everyone else by a mental memo. My inability to receive her thoughts resulted in me not knowing that I was supposed to close this evening instead of the previous evening (which was listed on the schedule and in the computer system) So I ended up working late due to this obvious failing on my part.

What is really disheartening is that this condition, which affects millions of people across the country, is not recognized as an actual disability by the Americans with Disability Act. It clearly affects millions of people and their ability to communicate with management effectively, and hurts company productivity in the process. Clearly we need to raise awareness of this condition, and make certain managers understand the limitations of their employees and make them have to make the extraordinary efforts of actually speaking directly and writing things down where everyone can actually see them.

It may require a lot of work, but never discount the value of your non-telepathic workers.

I suffer the same together with my other disability of being challenged in clairvoyance.

It seems I am unable to predict that the company will randomly purchase another business and suddenly grow by 50 stores, making my initial capacity planning at the beginning of the year, completely out.

I'm with you brother

(SERIOUSLY you have no idea how well timed this is.  I just took a 30 minute arse chewing from my manager *groan*)

Well, lucky for you I can read minds just fine.

I'd offer my assistance as a seeing third-eye kashi but I can tell from reading your mind that you may already be growing stronger in the force. Also, you have good taste in sexual fantasies. And go through milk way too fast. I mean, seriously?

---
Also... You chew the arse of your manager Charles, or is it the other way around? That's way too much information :P

I don't need to read other people's thoughts. I decide what the fuck their thoughts are.

I don't know odd....
I'm unable to picture things in my head... Wich i pretty ackward.
And i am unable to read peoples mind either.... Sometimes people get angry because of that, because they are able to read minds and expect me to be able to know what they think without telling..
It also gives me troubles on the road sometimes, like at roundabouts, when people don't use their signal light to show me that they are going to turn right. It makes me feel stupid because i should be able to know.
But i guess they don't know i can't read their minds...

I'm with CDSM on this...i just decide what peoples minds think when they don't tell me :) and if i haven't decided what they think...or just can't decide....i  decided it's non of my business and just act like they don't think at all :D
So i guess this disability effects loads of people and maybe this is the ultimate thread to share all of our disabilities....
My disability is mainly the fact that i think that i am diffrent then all others...but no-one seems to be on my side.Other then that i think that i am a bit chubby....but no one seems to think that either....And just recently i found out....i love to be all allone....like doing stuff all allone....cause there are just 3 persons in my life who are completely sane (and ofcourse all of you forumites)....So my thoughts are very very f*cked up! Anyway...i found out my thoughts are always wrong... I guess that's a huge disability right?
Other then that...i feel good! So maybe it's the rest of the world who is weird?
