I don't remember where this came up but I've just watched Band of Brothers all the way through again. The stuff in between the action scenes really does make the action scenes so much better. I mean, really, the whole entire film is just amazingly engaging and I think it does so with, admittedly, taking a few dramatic liberties, but without going over the top and either glorifying war or relying on lots of unrealistic situations, either in the combat or the dramatic sequences, to evoke emotion. It feels like you're watching something between film of real events and a dramatic production. Also I am astounded by the incredible accuracy of the costumes, props, and filming environments, especially considering the range of places the 506 ends up in. It's just amazing.
I think it's my favorite film of all time. If it counts as a film.
