If it's in California, the earliest I would be able to attend would be next summer, since this summer's already over.  Starting August 24th, I'll be in school nonstop until next May, with a short break for Christmas and very short breaks between now and Christmas.  Of course, please don't schedule the meet-up around my schedule.  I just wanted to let you know my situation  :).

However, if someone decides to head up a Midwest mini-meetup, I'd be able to attend that, especially if it's at Anime Central  ;D.  But if it's at Chicago Comic-Con, then that might work, depending on if I'm still working at my planned internship.

I'd probably never be able to come, unless things change drastically in the next year.

But it's a nice thought.

I want to go! But it has to be only a state or 2 away, becuase I am poor and can afford to go like anywhere. I live in oregon and could behaps be persuaded to go to Washington State, California or perhaps Nevada to visit.
Oregon would obviously be the most awsome, for me, duh.  :D

Also on the east coast, and probably couldn't attend.
Maybe if it were in Chicago though.

If it was somewhere nearby I wouldn't mind ..., but otherwise I wouldn't bother.
Looking at Deatzh's choice of words, it's easy to see just how deeply she feels about us all.

edit: um not trying to be an a-hole Deatzh, just thought it was funny that's all! :-[ :-X

I would FUCKING LOVE this or the Euro one, but it's just not going to happen until I somehow become rich.

Actually I would probably hate it since I suck at being social.  However I would like to meet Akasha and Pozf and be a semi-wallflower...no wait I want to meet Oddball too and Razzly, and...it would be great to meet Churba and Emp...

Well wait Whatever!  I would FUCKING LOVE this.  This is something I'm willing to set a life priority on.  My older son gets to come though (he's 6 and needs a lot of real life experience with cool people asap because he's a really really bright kid).

Not saying it'll happen this time, but as long as I'm rich enough for my wife to be ok with it, this is something I'm so totally into.

This, except replace semi-wallflower with guy sitting in the corner with a laptop being completely anti-social. Most likely at least.

It would be hard to use your laptop effectively with all the people demanding your attention.

Like "Hey Pozf!  Get over here and play jello strip twister!"

or "Hey Pozf!  Look at the naked boobs of so and so over at the jello strip twister game!"

edit: or "Hey Pozf!  What do you want for breakfast?!"

Well how I'm unsure how I would respond to the first two, it would probably depend on what I'm doing, I definitely have an answer for the 3rd one,
I don't eat breakfast, I'm never up that early... unless somebody wants to make me breakfast at 5:30 AM right before I fall asleep.

To be honest I would be way more interested in the Euro one at this point.

For one thing I've been to L.A. before.  For two things, going to Europe and meeting European people is awesome.  As it is meeting people from any foreign country.  It's just nice to see different perspectives.

And then plus there's the hot accents to consider...

but then let's not neglect the inherent benefits of having Akasha host a meetup...

edit: also, forgot to mention - part of my support for Euro meetup comes from me not being in the states right now :-\ ..but apart from that, I still think it'd be awesome...

It's funny because it's true.  None of you are familiar/important enough* for me to qualify spending a ton of money and going all the way the hell over to California (although this could be an excuse for me to meet up with my online booty call).  Money's tight, and I'm already running two (admittedly unreliable) jobs.
I mean, really, if I just want to visit Brion, I can call him and take the, what? half hour drive to go see him?

*There's only one person I talk to outside of the forums, and even then I still consider all of you strangers.
right.  Well that's honest and so well, yeah...right.

Nice talking to you too.

by which I mean, I would like to respond, but am not quite sure how, so, anyway, nothing.

edit: well I was being bitchy right there.  Anyway, what I mean is I'm not sure how you can feel so or how it even makes sense to feel so.  Unless it's more of an intentional skepticism thing.  I feel that way about most forums I've been to, but I feel that people here are actually very genuine.  I'd be surprised if there's anyone here that I dont...

oh god damn I always get more personal than is needed here...I'm sorry, I've spent a lot of time in I guess what you would call self-help groups, where we spent a lot of time discussing each others' feelings or whatever.  Ignore me.  I really need to go to bed...good night again.

You have a good skill at being hurtful though Deatzh.  imo.  I usually try to shake it off, but...well yeah, there you go.  I don't know if you mean it or you just tell yourself that it's ok because you're just speaking your truth, but on the other side it hurts.  Just a little feedback for ya.

You're not the only one, I'm the same way... except exchange the 1 person with two people.

There isn't a way I can speak for Deatzh, but seeing as how I feel the same way, I might shed some light on the situation from my angle.
As genuine as people can be/are on the internet in general, even if you talk to that person for a good amount of time. By never meeting that person, you miss a key piece in understanding that person. I can't explain it too much, but there is just something missing when you don't spend some kind of time with that person, In person.
