I confess that the inability of big news channels like CNN to pronounce "van der Sloot" surprises me.
Sloot is pronounced sloat, like boat. Shouldn't be that hard...
I confess the mispronunciation of Berkeley (the college named after Bishop Berkeley) also surprises me.
Pronounced Bark-eley.
Correction - UCB is named after the place it's located in, it's the place that is named after the Bishop(and poet) Berkeley. Then again, the mispronunciation doesn't surprise me, as it's an Irish name, and American's can't pronounce 3/4 of the place names in UK properly (excluding Wales, where most people can't pronounce the place names properly, including the welsh.)
