Your Hobby!
« on: June 26, 2009, 02:42:07 pm »
Ok, so here I am sitting by my computer at 23:30 just having ordered stuff for my Warhammer 40k collection worth about £300, an ammount that most people around me thinks is insane to spend on plastic 'toys' as they see it.

And now I wonder, how many others of all the amazing and odd persons in here who have hobbies? Are they 'normal' hobbies or are they considdered weird? Expencive?

Please tell, and the more details, the better :)

Writer.
Though I haven't written much in a while. I do "brainstorming" every day.
I AM indeed planning on writing something and getting it published.
Current amount of story ideas: around 20.

Also, The Sims is a rather serious hobby to me. I buy all games (almost).
Total cost: around 5500 NOK which might be around 550$. Not sure. Or around 700£.
I have no idea really. But it's a lot altogether. I might have done it really wrong, because I really don't remember all the prices, but it does seem about right. The dollars I'm really unsure of though.
Just plodding along.

I'm a writer too. Like Chag, I've got lots of ideas for novels. I just have a complete lack of motivation and I think I should stick with short stories for now. XD Since about a year and a half ago, I've also started drawing.
I also like to collect little crystal things. Dragons, mostly, but I've got some other stuff. I'd love to start collecting knives as well, but I just don't have the money. I've only got one dagger so far.

I'm a gamer and a drummer.
The drumming aspect is a lot more money. within the two months I spent about 800-900 USD on two pieces of equipment.
And when I get more money I will be spending ~1200-1500 USD on a new brain because I'm unfortunately an elitist and need the best everything >.< (Plus I actually need one mine is a PoS)

I'm a conworlder, That's pretty much similar to a writer, but instead of writing novels I like to create the background stuff.
I write short storys too, but often catch myself in outlaying, in which was the culture of the characters is different than ours, and what effect that has on their dayly lifes.
What I like about this hobby is it's diversity. I think I would never have become interested in the different features of estuaries, if not for this.
Not expensives in terms of money, most information can be found in the internet for free, but it can be very time consuming. Just try writing a poem in a language you invented yourself.

Like Deatzh, I do art and music, but the art-part is more like a job, as I'm seriously studying to become an illustrator.

I also collect panda-items.

My current collection consists of:
6x Plushie Pandas
1 pair of Panda slippers
1x Panda hat
2x Panda notebooks - one used for thoughts and the second for song lyrics.
1x Panda mug

Needless to say, panda-themed items are pretty hard to find around here. I also have a steadily growing love for Hello Kitty, but so far I only own a shirt and a keyring.

It's been a bit lame with partners lately, but I also Roleplay (or Storytell) either on WoW or old-fashioned tabletop via the internet.

Other hobbies are normal and uninteresting, such as video games, fashion and computers...

Don't assume it's not for me.  It's not like I'm just dicking around with a pencil and some paper.

...I didn't assume anything?
I just wanted to add that I don't really consider it much of a hobby for me. My comment had nothing to do with you, really.

The err is in the way you worded it, which very much DOES sound like it has something to do with me.

Eh
I understand what you meant, now, and I'm sorry for jumping on you for it, but I did read it that way.

Don't worry about it. Sorry if my wording was confusing.

Nownow, Deatzh, Razzly I won't have you fighting in my thread, you are both too valuable to be allowed a cat fight  :-*

And by the way, if there is one thing that's true about art it's that you can't really compare the works of one artist with that of another one.

I love playing video games, drawing, and collecting figurines.

My collection isn't that impressive, but I like it.  Mostly girl figurines.  The only guy ones I have are of Kazuma and Cougar Straight from S-Cry-Ed and a poorly made Link.  I have three expensive ones:  Ingus from Flame the Heart of the Sun($30, Plastic), Yuffie from Final Fantasy VII ($75, Resin), and The Girl on the Left from He Is My Master($30 or $40, Resin).
The rest of them are mostly just random figures I got because they were cute.  I have a weakness for cute anime girls.  But unique cute, not Generic Cute School Girl cute!

I play Video games most of the time and draw whenever I watch movies.  I usually draw comics or character designs, or just sketch.  Lately I've been trying to work on my anatomy more.

And Razz, you don't know what you're missing out on by opting out of beeing 'devoured' ;)

I'm personally a bit of a hobbyist. I have many hobbies. I guess it would be more effective to focus on one hobby, but I suppose I simply like having many hobbies.

One of my favorite hobbies is singing, if one would call that a hobby. I don't do it as a carrier or anything, just for fun. I do random shows and things of that nature.

I like to collect things, right now I collect Dragon memorbilia, Cow memorbilia, Magic: The Gathering Cards, and a number of other things.

Another hobby of mine is video games. I love video games. Can't put them down!

I'm a guitarist, a singer and a boxer.

I need music to live, so I decided to teach myself guitar a while ago. I've been singing in the school choir since primary school, so it's just been a matter of adapting my voice for other music (I can hold my metal roar for a good 10-15 seconds). I've kind of stopped boxing due to school and other such things. However, I'm gonna get back in the ring, rocky style, and dish out da PAIN!

The only thing I really collect is anime merchandise -- T-shirts, a couple of figurines, a couple of plushies, a couple of wall scrolls and a couple of soundtracks.  Speaking of pandas, Razzly, I do have a small, plastic Glomp Panda that I bought at Anime Central a while back  :).  I occasionally write short stories, and I also bowl on occasion, but that's more of a sport than a hobby.
