Emp: probably
- yeah, I can almost promise you're alone on that one.
I went to a nice kids' birthday party this weekend with a very cool family. We were the only non-family invited. They were, pretty much to a man, pretty strange, but they were fun, low-key and laid back and there was lots of laughing and large-scale fooling around, also good conversation. Not like my fam. We are ok, generally loving and civil, but we are pretty uptight. A lot of how we show love is through insults and ribbing.
As for religion, we (family as a whole) is christian but not passionately or dogmatically so, and all of us kids do our own thing and it's totally accepted.
Overall opinion: I like my fam, but it's very hard to be myself at home. Oh plus we're all alcoholics -- when I hang out with any of my brothers it's pretty much a guarantee that we're drinking, or at least the brother will be. Which I don't really like because I feel it can be fun to do healthier things or just talk, but it doesn't seem to work out. Seriously - I have taken steps to get out of it, but the rest of my bros are pretty much just full-on drinkers.
Don't get me wrong, I like to drink too, but when it's a necessity, I think it shows some unhealthiness in the relationship or the individuals.
edit: whoa! Isn't this a game thread?!
