Bern just caught a sword with her cloth-gloved hand. Could this whole page just be a fantasy cutaway sequence of hers?

Dude just pointed a sword at her. That's a threat of violence... right?

Paper-thin justification! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

We can't really see how she'd make 800 gold in 15 minutes even by abandoning her moral code.

In the absence of a Chapter 35 thread, we'll just lay this here:

Stick the extortionist with a sword! It's the only way he'll learn!

Well, this is an unexpected development. We look forward to finding out what in the greasy heck is causing it.

Wow.  She's been sleeping next to Chrest for so long but not doing anything about it.  I think she's feeling horny.

EDIT - Now she and Chrest can both have spikes on their head.  Her's are horn and his is hair.

EDIT - Normally, women give men a set of horns.

EDIT - I've heard of a head on a spike, but that's a spike on a head.

EDIT - Poor Suspira.  That's a bad way to get the point.

EDIT - Yeah.  I hope that nothing really bad happens to her.  We've not seen her boobies yet.  Plus, I like the character growth.  Wart speed ahead with the puns.

That was truly, completely horrible.

Anyway, I'm 100% in defense of Maytag. She was depressed and felt unlikeable. She found something she wanted to be. And she became it, and people loved her. Any bullshit you have to say about "be yourself" or "putting on an act is a lie"... you probably just don't know what it's like to feel alienated in that am-I-a-human-being way.

"Be yourself" is certainly bullshit, but "putting on an act is a lie" is, by definition, true. We'd be far, far more likely to get murdered - legally killed, even - as ourselves than as the lie. But that doesn't make it any less a lie. It might not even make the lie right. Kinda undecided on that one, heh. It doesn't mean we recognise the man in the mirror, or remember any but the barest details of what his life was like. It doesn't stop me from feeling guilty every time we look at his mother, and wondering how we could ever possibly break the truth to her. And none of us can figure out what a human being is supposed to feel like. Don't s'pose you have any clues?

'S a funny thing... we do this thing Maytag is currently defending (ie wear an identity-mask in front of most people IRL, though for protection rather than likeability) and can't agree with her on the "it's not lying" front. It is lying, but she's got so good at the lie that she's fooled herself.

'Course, we also don't use the word "personality" quite the same way she does, so it's all a bit wibbly really.

"Like it?"

Does May refer to Vennice or to her new costume?
Pretty sure she's referring to neither, but rather to her shiny new arm.

Edit: We're getting senile in our old age1... that happened over multiple pages mid-to-late last chapter. This can't be referring to it.

From now on, ignore everything we say. It's the only way to be sure.

1When you hit senility shortly after 20, you start to worry. Maybe we're having a detrimental effect on each other after all...

Has anyone yet actually put on their Salvador Limones accent and said "Who is the thin man, I wonder, and how does he fit into this sinister puzzle?"

Because if not, that would be a real shame...

Would you trust it even if we did?

Not sure. Certainly, the most common way to produce an EMP (i.e. set off a nuke) is banned...

Terminal velocity is not the same for all objects. Else a parachute would be so much useless cloth.

I just found out that BRIAN BLESSED will be playing Odin in the upcoming Thor movie.
That... is pure brilliance.

On the downside, my arms feels as if amputated at the collar bones due to carrying that 14kg wrought steel bitch of a gun
Surely you mean "gun of a bitch"?

Provided she didn't leave the d-bag on the side of the tub... or in her room, after all, she was only taking a bath with bern!
Isn't it sort of metaphysically attached to her hands?

I see he has the wit to bring them into an anti-magic room. Way to mess with Suspiria. >:)
Could be as it's not the room, but the man. Perhaps he's one of the Ten, disguised, and is blocking her.

Or possibly he's blocking her, but rather than being one of the Ten, he is an unregistered rogue sorcerer (maybe even the Thin Man himself?), and Suspiria's "ten most powerful" count never thought to take into account all the possible rogues out there.

Or, most likely given the penchant we've seen for illusions so far: Suspiria actually did shoot a beam o' zap there, but she's being fooled into not seeing it. In such a case, the man is not standing in front of her, either - that's an illusion too. He may never even have existed at all. Perhaps the twins just put him up as a sort of holographic greeter.

No, wait, that's not the most likely option. The most likely option is, as ever, something we haven't even thought of yet.

Edit: 'Nother possibility. Since her hand does seem to be glowing, she may still just be charging up.

...And then Glyph woke up, and it was all a dream.

Or hell, maybe Maytag. Or Crest.
Hell, maybe this is what Moss sees when he looks at Bern. Thing is, we just don't know.

What we do know is that this is distinctly out of the ordinary, and something is not right. We'd like to give Brion some credit and assume that the wrongness is in-story, not out of it.

Okay, something is very definitely afoot here and at the very least Bern is going to be pissed as all hell when she finds out what it is.

Anyone want to take a bet on just how much blood is going to be spilled?

So, major question right now: is Glyph visible to anyone other than the readers?
