They have little idea what to do with people at this age... except make sucking noises and hope you've got the goods  :P

The one interaction, I'm aware of, that they have at this age is some small ability to move their head and follow a voice.  So its an exercise at this age to hold them back around the distance they can focus and talk to them from different sides so they turn their head to look at you.

Beyond that, they eat, poop and sleep.  She's managing 2.5 - 5 hour sleeps, which is very good for a baby at that age.  At around 6 weeks, you can start to push for an all-night sleep.  Any earlier and its a bit of a health problem as they can get dehydrated.

NOTE: nappy changes are very easy at this age since the stools hardly smell until the digestive system develops a bit more and/or they get into solids.  I guess thats how parents do it.  They just get gradually introduced to worse and worse stools rather than thrown in at the deep end.

Or take the advice of Earl Hickey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU3nKDlC8NM

The tash is an old Wilkinson tradition that you grow one when you have your first born.  So I had a bit of a beard of goatee for the last couple of weeks, then shaved it off the day before this one was due.

It does look a fair bit dorky and sparse right now, but a couple more weeks and the top hairs will grow in more to meet the bottom ones and it'll all buff out better.  I've had beards for much longer periods of time in the past and checked out how the tash alone looked as I shaved them off, so I know it'll grow in better (and that was over 5 years ago).

Anyway, we're both home from the hospital now. As I type this mum is getting some much needed sleep while our little "Bunny" does the same.  I've purchased a baby name book, so we'll go through that soon and hopefully get a name for her.  We used my sister in law's baby name books while we were over visiting some months ago and managed to work out the boy's name and get a shortlist of girl's names, but we want another look through before deciding.  Always a big deal and responsibility to name a child IMHO.  They've gotta live with it for their entire life (well, until they can get out of home and legally change it anyway).  But for now she's just daddy's little bunny girl  ;D

I'm no longer going to be a parent... I am one

Please say hellow to my little baby girl "Bunny" (temporary name 'till we have her permanent one).

Born 09/08/2011 (Australian Date format), 8.13lb and 52cm long she took only 6.5 hours from first contraction to birth at 5:03am.  In fact, she caught us so offguard with how fast she came along that we needed to call an ambulance rather than drive into hospital (heck, we even got taken to a different hospital to the one we planned).  I guess little "Bunny" had different plans in mind.

Don't worry though, they'll all be getting replaced and upgraded with the coming NBN.

I confess I've been absorbed in work as well... and the coming baby (due last sunday and still waiting).  Between that and a couple of new DS8800s trying to replace a pair of DS8100s together with a new Power795 and various upgrades to AIX 6.1.6 to work on it... Its been a hell of a long few weeks.

How did I miss this thread?

There's another page which might help you with Flipside Map creation:

http://flipside.keenspot.com/comic/book0/fs23pg12.html

Brion also created a rudimentary map, showing the locations of the main cities that have featured in the comic, in one of the books (Book 3 I think).  Nothing else I can think of that might help sorry.

Strewth,

I was half a second away from marking this post for deletion when I just read enough to discover it was legit *lol*

Love your work mate.  I hope is wasn't Maytag's thumb that was getting the Honey Badger off *lol*

I'll have to checkout your own comics sometime soon.
