Pop Culture / The Guild

I know it's not new and it's already been well-recognized, but I recently watched the "The Guild" online series.  I thought it was pretty good.  I expected it to suck, due to the subject matter.  Just didn't see how it could be interesting.  I often get proven wrong when I think like that though.

The writing is snappy and the actors are funny/good.  Plus there are lots of generally awkward freaky moments, especially in the first season, which I liked.  I mean, at least in the first season, they seem like pretty believable online gaming freaks.  (The other seasons are good too, but I think they become a bit more like caricatures of their characters, if that makes sense)

edit: I take it back...I rewatched the 2nd season last night, and I think it's more that you get used to the characters so you're a bit less suprised by their behavior, so most of the humor comes from the situations they're in.  The main characters are still great though.

I do really like the writing though...</edit>

Barely relatedly, I am currently obsessing over the fact that Felicia Day was homeschooled and wondering what the implications of that are.

Free Talk / too many stickies

Hi guys,

Just an FYI - I unstickied some threads that I had stickied.  There were too many stickies, and it was making it harder to see the unstickied threads at the bottom, which need love too.  While some threads have more regular activity than others, and deserve to stay on the front page because they are cool and handy threads, they will have to fight for their lives among the rest of the threads.  If a popular thread does happen to fall off of the first page, feel free to revive it by posting a picture of your butt or other personal body part that you have never shown to anybody before except maybe your mom.

So if your thread got unstickied, please don't take it personally.  I just think it's better to only have a few stickies, so that there's more room at the bottom.

I don't want to pollute other threads with these, so here goes.

If it wants to, this thread can be a place for people to place links to things that they want to share that don't fit into other threads/discussions or just random quirky things that you love.

First of all one of the most amazing women in the world.

And then, GWAR at their best.  (Don't watch that one though, it sucks.)  Actually, the best parts of this great film Youtube took down, but this piece isn't too bad.  (it sucks, don't watch it)

I haven't read anything yet, not even the comic, but it appears that nothing evil has happened, or maybe not enough evil, depending...

...and I won't have time to read anything today - I have to go home before I miss the last bus.  But anyway, how is everyone?

Everything's reasonably fine here, as fine as it can be when your whole freaking life is turned upside down because you suddenly move to Asia and you have a baby and a 6 year old to worry about, and you start your new job the same day you get off the freaking plane. (last Monday I think.)

But I'm already getting paid tho *waist-height fist pump*.

No but really, how is everyone???
