Knee high, I wear big boots, so ankle socks are rather uncomfortable.

Boots, I'm not big on sandals and the ilk.

Futurama, I'm not really huge on family guy. It's good sometimes, but it's hit and miss.

Yes, but I'm not going to give criticism on it without reading it first, and that is now hours of my life I will never get back.

Then again, it has a niche with the teenage market... End result:  I'll never read or watch it 'cos people's description of it is something that I wouldn't like.  But then, I didn't like David Eddings books yet he's a major Author. Twilight, despite all the haters, really does have a massive following of fans so the Author has evidently done something right with her writing rather than something wrong.

Well, I'm purely theorizing here, but I suspect that it's at least partially because the character Bella has absolutely no characterization, she's a blank slate - perfect for reader self-insertion. This creates separate problems too - at times, you can almost see the author stretching to keep from Giving Bella any character, to maintain the reader fantasy.

I'm sure people could pick Flipside appart, claiming it just fan-service with all the sexuality or simply aims to keep attention with culture shocks such as Mary with the Child's leg or Maytag's eaten arm.  They could argue all they like about this world of characters, seemingly revolving around Maytag as a Mary Sue with adultery taped in for the sake of a flaw.  They could argue that it's simply a political soap box for libertarian views.

Yeah, you could. But you could also point to the deep and consistent characters, strong story, and high quality art - Twilight enjoys no such advantages.

All Brion needs to retort with is his 40,000 unique views per day.

And if he did, I'd call him a fool - popular is not necessarily good - remember, everyone whinges about Bush, but they still voted him in twice in a row.

Ma'am, I'm an Australian, not a mind-reader. I have no idea, however, I theorise that they are easy to get stuck in one's head since they're designed to do so, a regular cadence easy to remember, easy to chant along with. Pep rallies creep me the fuck out.

I was very good at baseball, but I gave it up a while back, though I still dabble, and I love the Ice hockey. I'm also reasonably adept, I have discovered, at Calcio Fiorentino. Edit - I might add, I don't speak very good italian, and my understanding of the rules are hazy, but to give you a basic picture - It's a brawl, with a ball, nets, and a scorekeeper, with teams of 27 a side. The Referees are less there to enforce the rules than to ensure that a riot doesn't break out.

Not properly, only pickup games of beach cricket or backyard cricket.

Because back in the day, bakers short-changing a customer would loose a hand, so they would throw in an extra for the price of twelve to avoid being accused of cheating customers.

I have a few - I swing a Cannon EOS 300D back home, and I have a Canon IXUS point and shoot with custom firmware. I also picked up a Practica Film camera not long ago.

I did, but it died, so I'm using a wired Razer Krait at the moment.

The object of this game is to make short playlists around a theme.

Pretty easy, all you do is post a Playlist theme, and how many songs, with the first song on the playlist. The next person posts the next song, and when the number of songs is reached, whoever posts the last song suggests the new theme. Also, you can add a Difficulty - songs or bands that you can't add to the playlist.

I'll start, for obvious reasons.

*huggles churba*  I'll cross all my fingers and toes so it all works out for the best churba. wish I could do more but the distance kinda bites things.

I'm crossing all I have too, believe me. Salubi's been my best friend since not long after I came to Flipside, and if nothing else, I don't want to lose that - though, it does lend me a measure of disappointment, too - having known me so well for so long, It surprises me that she would believe a lot of the things she's become convinced of about me.

Hopefully, it will all work out - believe me when I say I'm trying my hardest to make things right.

I must admit, I do feel a bit stupid about one thing - If I'd have just taken some initiative, and been motivated, I could have moved to Aberystwyth, there is a lot of pubs down there - about 56 or so in one small town - but I got it into my head that I couldn't do it. Would it have helped? Hell if I know, but that doesn't stop me feeling bad about it.

Like I said, I'm not going to give up on her. I'll admit, I was a real shit when we met. How much of a shit? Well, We were....well, not together in the traditional sense, but we were in love and had decided to be exclusive to each other before we met, I knew she was coming to Australia to meet her, but I still cheated on her - I got together with someone who was basically all but her in looks, similar in personality type, as a proxy for her till I could be with her. She found out, and she was extremely hurt - but she still came to meet me anyway, and moved in with me a week after we met - even after I did possibly the stupidest, most hurtful thing I've ever done to anyone, she didn't give up on me.
She made me into a better person after that, but I won't deny I was an utter prick when she met me.

I know I didn't, because it's a mouthful, or considering that I'm typing, a fingerful.

Now, as for the tea....Definitely a softer or smoother tea with a complementary flavor, like lady grey.
