I have felt a strange draw to the forum these last couple days, is this why?
Congratulations Charles!!!
All those years of being a horndog have finally amounted to something!
Being a parent is the best of life man. Except of course for those who are not parents...they get to have their own lives. But for the brave and few, we get to lose all personal freedom and sleep to a whiny little brat.
-
o_o
Congratulations! What an adorable little... Vague... Blurry... Bun?
(Just joking. ;) I'm sure the little seamonkey will be absolutely lovely.)
-
Grats Charles!
Who impregnated you? ;D
-

Well, We had another scan yesterday and here are the results. One healthy, growing, fetus! Woot! Bun continues to bake well.

-
Charles! you've been holding back on facebook with the pictures :O
Have you considered names other than Bun? :P
-
That's Awesome! congratulations Man :D
-
Cheers.
I think my syster in law named her foetus "Sprout" while my brother in law and his wife have called theirs "Baby Boof". Bun works for us so far. The little guy is kicking all over the joint now and its quite easy to feel. Probably not much longer and we'll be seeing it.
Just a little over 3 months to go.
-
How about Beauregard?
(no one ever lets me name anything.)
-
Considering I'm Charles the 5th, I think a boy's name has been decided in advance ;)
-
Strange name that...................six :-\
-
Like a month to go now Charles? Or what?
How's it goin? Your wife huge?
-
6 weeks to go!
Had these about two weeks ago:
Yoda for the Win!

I'm no longer going to be a parent... I am one
Please say hellow to my little baby girl "Bunny" (temporary name 'till we have her permanent one).
Born 09/08/2011 (Australian Date format), 8.13lb and 52cm long she took only 6.5 hours from first contraction to birth at 5:03am. In fact, she caught us so offguard with how fast she came along that we needed to call an ambulance rather than drive into hospital (heck, we even got taken to a different hospital to the one we planned). I guess little "Bunny" had different plans in mind.

Or take the advice of Earl Hickey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU3nKDlC8NM
The tash is an old Wilkinson tradition that you grow one when you have your first born. So I had a bit of a beard of goatee for the last couple of weeks, then shaved it off the day before this one was due.
It does look a fair bit dorky and sparse right now, but a couple more weeks and the top hairs will grow in more to meet the bottom ones and it'll all buff out better. I've had beards for much longer periods of time in the past and checked out how the tash alone looked as I shaved them off, so I know it'll grow in better (and that was over 5 years ago).

Anyway, we're both home from the hospital now. As I type this mum is getting some much needed sleep while our little "Bunny" does the same. I've purchased a baby name book, so we'll go through that soon and hopefully get a name for her. We used my sister in law's baby name books while we were over visiting some months ago and managed to work out the boy's name and get a shortlist of girl's names, but we want another look through before deciding. Always a big deal and responsibility to name a child IMHO. They've gotta live with it for their entire life (well, until they can get out of home and legally change it anyway). But for now she's just daddy's little bunny girl ;D
-
How does it feel then?
-
Like the best idea in the world I guess...
That's how I felt one day when my niece grabbed a bag of potatoes and wouldn't let anyone have unless they said please. That was too cute.
-
Mustaches require wax. And a lot of evil laughter. :) But yah, back to the matter at hand.
Congrats!
-
Thanks all again for the well wishes. Our daughter has a name.

Nice name!
Also, in the second photo, all I can imagine her saying is "What have you DONE, man?"
-
Cheers, but it helps if I spell it correctly.

We'll have to get Uncle Churba over for a visit sometime. ;D

I warn you, I have literally no idea what to do with babies.
-
They have little idea what to do with people at this age... except make sucking noises and hope you've got the goods :P
The one interaction, I'm aware of, that they have at this age is some small ability to move their head and follow a voice. So its an exercise at this age to hold them back around the distance they can focus and talk to them from different sides so they turn their head to look at you.
Beyond that, they eat, poop and sleep. She's managing 2.5 - 5 hour sleeps, which is very good for a baby at that age. At around 6 weeks, you can start to push for an all-night sleep. Any earlier and its a bit of a health problem as they can get dehydrated.
NOTE: nappy changes are very easy at this age since the stools hardly smell until the digestive system develops a bit more and/or they get into solids. I guess thats how parents do it. They just get gradually introduced to worse and worse stools rather than thrown in at the deep end.
-
Heh, looks like you came prepared. Nice name by the way.
-
It's a bit belated, but Punxie also says Gratz on the new baby!
-
Cheers, I'll have to catch her and the band again when they've got another gig... if the Mrs. will let me outa the house *lol*
Little Evie is getting some big sleeps through the night now. We change her and feed her a bit more and make sure there's as little light and stimulation as possible so she simply drifts back off for a good time. I'm also opening the curtain and blinds during the day so she gets accustomed to night and day to know when she should sleep longer or shorter and stay awake longer.
My father came to visit me and showed me an invaluable way to settle a baby. He took her in his arms and pretty much did a dance, like the modern jive or something, around the room. She settled almost instantly and remained settled. Forget the basic rocking, dance! *lol*
Some new photographs from the same professional who did our "bump" photos, Carly Webber (http://carlywebber.com.au/)

You should have a few months to convince her, they have a gig coming up in September, they're competing in the Guinness live thursdays at o'malleys.
-
Awww, so cute.
A waltz always works. :P
-
Once she gets a bit older a drive around the block usually puts them to sleep as well.
-
Nice photos.
-
So cute!
So who's nose does everybody say she has?
-
I'd say dad's :P
-
Hm... Actually I'd say mom's.
-
I think I need to go look at the pics again :P
EDIT: I am overruled by evidence, she's got her mom's flatter nose :)
-
I vote for dad's eyes.
-
Maybe. I'd say dad's chin. It's wider.
-
Sory for the necropost, but i wasn't around when she was born, so a belated CONGRATULATIONS!
